{"id":694,"date":"2021-12-11T20:02:00","date_gmt":"2021-12-12T01:02:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/serioustangents.com\/SeriousBlog\/?p=694"},"modified":"2022-03-26T16:04:08","modified_gmt":"2022-03-26T20:04:08","slug":"savalon-artwork-comparison-old-vs-new","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/serioustangents.com\/SeriousBlog\/?p=694","title":{"rendered":"Savalon:  Artwork Comparison: Old vs. New"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>So, as I mentioned, Savalon was a project I\u2019ve been working on for a long time, as a counter-project to Tomb of the Purple Man.&nbsp; I got a lot of that project finished quite some time ago, but I was aiming for a particular artwork style that was simply beyond my technical means.&nbsp; But that\u2019s kind of a vague phrase, isn\u2019t it?&nbsp; So, to better explain what I\u2019m talking about, let me show you some \u2018placeholder\u2019 artwork and the new art pieces I used to replace them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" src=\"http:\/\/serioustangents.com\/SeriousBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Matrix-Jump.bmp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-696\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>An example of a pencil-sketch placeholder that I had for a section on adventure creation. However, they are firmly in the minority compared to the CG versions.  For example, I just like the intensity of this one specific piece, and I use it as the &#8216;partner image&#8217; to the hacking program named &#8220;Really Big Gun.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"212\" height=\"397\" src=\"http:\/\/serioustangents.com\/SeriousBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Very-Big-Gun-Transparent.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-695\" srcset=\"http:\/\/serioustangents.com\/SeriousBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Very-Big-Gun-Transparent.png 212w, http:\/\/serioustangents.com\/SeriousBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Very-Big-Gun-Transparent-160x300.png 160w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 212px) 100vw, 212px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>But it wasn&#8217;t just pencil sketches that got the axe.  I am in the process of updating and improving an number of CG art pieces that I initially included, but looking at them now I just&#8230; can&#8217;t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"600\" height=\"480\" src=\"http:\/\/serioustangents.com\/SeriousBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Millitary-Allies-Illustration-Larger-Sketch-2.bmp\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-698\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This image was one that I created as a &#8216;partner image&#8217; for the skill &#8220;Tactical Planning.&#8221;  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" src=\"http:\/\/serioustangents.com\/SeriousBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Military-Skills-Group.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-701\" srcset=\"http:\/\/serioustangents.com\/SeriousBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Military-Skills-Group.png 450w, http:\/\/serioustangents.com\/SeriousBlog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Military-Skills-Group-300x200.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a newer version that I&#8217;ve incorporated instead.  It reinforces the underground bunker style artwork, with multiple characters in various kinds of armor and cybernetic augmentation.  There&#8217;s a little more going on in the shot, but it&#8217;s clear that this small group is discussing some kind of military operation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And even these shots will probably get some additional revising before I go to press.  But as I mentioned, most of the work I&#8217;m doing on this focuses on improving the artwork to match what I had in my head, and I&#8217;m now starting to really see this happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hope you&#8217;re all doing well.  The holidays are coming, but I&#8217;m going to keep on trucking.
