New Novel : Exit Pass : Is Now Available!

For some people, writing is just a hobby.  For other people, it’s an extremely passionate hobby, filled with blood, sweat, and tears, along with no small amount of screaming of “I’m a fraud!  Why am I doing this?  Am I utterly insane?” at an unforgiving keyboard.

I suppose I fall into the latter category, with a sprinkle of desire to one day see my works picked up into syndication or becoming ‘the next big thing.’

Exit Pass: The Jane Solution is a serious labor of love.  I wrote the entire book from the point of view of a person who is constantly hallucinating all day, every day.  I took mundane situations, like the act of walking out of the door to collect the mail, and asked myself “What would this look like in an animated movie with a ridiculously overblown CG budget?”  I did my best to just let a lot of it flow stream of consciousness, only going back to edit the work later to make things fit the continuity of the story itself.

Unlike other novels I’ve written, where I usually plot out the specifics of a chapter before I start to write it, with Exit Pass my story arc was more like a list of suggestions than actual hard-and-fast checkpoints.  Writing the story first-person gave me the luxury of letting him ramble, forget, hyper-focus, and outright lie to the reader.  It gave the story a unique feel to it, and I’ve had a couple different beta readers tell me that they are really wanting a sequel when this book has barely hit the shelves.

Depending on how well it is received, I may set up an audio book version of the story.  That will be something for much later down the line, of course.
